THE BRAINTREE & DISTRICT OUTDOOR PURSUITS CLUB (BDOPC)

We are a small mixed group of outdoor enthusiasts.
The club meets in Braintree, but members are drawn from a wider area. Our shared interest is exploring the great outdoors. Our monthly Sunday events are normally in Essex with the occasional foray further away with a weekend to the hills. Our walks are up to 10 miles and club cycles range from 20 to 30 miles.
Members often share their outdoor activities with other like minded folk and as a result a number of more personal challenges have been achieved.

Local Events
​At least one Sunday a month we organise a local outdoor event, usually walking or occasionally cycling. It'll last all day so don't forget those sandwiches ! If you're not sure about what equipment you need, just ask and we are happy to advise.
Our Local calendar also makes room for some social events.
Weekends Away
A few times a year, a group of us will take a few days away travelling to all parts of the country, often departing Friday evening & returning late Sunday. We usually use campsites, but those who prefer more comfortable accommodation book a B&B or Self Catering chalet.
Evening Events
We have a monthly meeting held at 8:00pm on the last Tuesday of the month at the Constitutional Hall, Great Square, Braintree, CM7 1TY. We use the upstairs room. Here you will have an opportunity to meet us and ask any questions. As well as socialising, we finalise arrangements for our activities and often have a guest speaker & slide show. Open to members and non-members, all welcome.
